How Living Map is driving seamless visitor experiences at Metrocentre

Problem
Metrocentre, a 2,000,000 sq ft shopping and leisure destination with 3.3 miles of shop fronts, needed a better way to guide its visitors. The centre’s complex layout can prove challenging to navigate, leading to shopper frustration or wasted time. Visitors to the NHS diagnostic centres or leisure facilities also required timely navigation to their appointments and bookings.
Goal
To improve the visitor experience with a mobile-friendly, easy-to-use navigation tool that helps all visitors save time and easily find their destinations.
Approach
Metrocentre implemented a digital mapping solution across 10 kiosks and QR codes for on-the-go, mobile access, offering visitors a seamless experience. The map includes integrated live transport links for visitors, a new marketing opportunity for retailers through logo placements and promotions, and helps reduce late arrivals or no-shows for leisure destinations and NHS appointments.
Living Map Solution:

“The Living Map solution provides a seamless experience for our visitors, with responsive software that’s easy-to-use and unlike anything else available on the market.”
Gavin Prior, Centre Director at Metrocentre.
Improved Shopping Experience
The digital map helps shoppers easily navigate the mall, minimising the time spent getting lost and maximising their shopping time. Real-time directions guide visitors to stores, dining, amenities, and parking, creating a smoother, frustration-free experience. This seamless experience leaves a lasting impression, encouraging repeat visits and increasing customer loyalty.
Data-Driven Insights
The map collects valuable data on shopper preferences and foot traffic, providing insights to optimise store placement, mall layout, and overall operations. This data helps the shopping centre make informed decisions to enhance the customer experience and improve efficiency.
Accessibility & Inclusivity
Designed with all visitors in mind, the map highlights clear, stair-free routes, elevators, and accessible amenities. This ensures a stress-free experience for individuals with mobility needs, promoting an inclusive, welcoming environment for all shoppers.
Marketing Opportunities
Retailers can take advantage of the map's marketing features, promoting their stores directly to shoppers on the map and driving engagement, foot traffic, and sales.
