Celebrating International Women's Day with Living Map

In honour of International Women’s Day 2024, the women of Living Map came together for an afternoon that blossomed into a reunion marked by interesting discussions, inspiring conversations, and shared experiences.

The Living Map team delved deeper into topics such as gender equality, women in leadership, inspirational figures, and the significance of International Women’s Day. Throughout the afternoon the team shared their thoughts, and engrossed in this year’s International Women’s Day theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion’.

International Women’s Day carries immense importance to the women at Living Map. March 8th symbolises a commemoration of the strides women throughout history have made to attain gender equality, and it is an opportunity to celebrate all our successes. In addition, it gives us a chance to acknowledge the necessary steps required to continue fostering progress and driving further positive change. 

One of the key topics dominating our conversations revolved around the evolution in attitudes towards gender equality. We acknowledged the significant shift in employer attitudes towards childcare flexibility throughout their careers, with the COVID-19 pandemic playing a pivotal role in driving this positive change.

Moreover, the team explored the indispensable role of female representation in leadership positions. Recognising the value of diversity in leadership, they emphasised the importance of a balanced approach to people management, leveraging the unique skills and perspectives that both genders bring to the table.

To finish our conversation, we delved into this year’s theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion’, and discussed the actions employers should take to support women within their organisations. The team discussed that in any type of employment, there should be fair and equal treatment regardless of gender, support for mental and physical well-being, flexible working arrangements, and access to opportunities for training and progression.

But perhaps the most significant outcome of celebrating International Women’s Day was the sense of coming together and the support this fostered within the Living Map team. By sharing stories, and amplifying each other’s voices, the team formed a formidable support network, ready to uplift and empower one another in their ongoing journeys.
